In university I was able to complete a double major of Drawing and Painting. Drawing gave me the opportunity to explore multi-media projects, but also gave me the ability to hone classic skills such as principles of perspective, composition, and fore shortening. Since graduating I find my focus to be that of classical nature, specifically the Canadian landscape.

In my continual practice of painting I enjoy using primarily oil paint as my medium. At times I have been known to dabble with water colours, acrylic, latex house paint, and sometimes even ink or a guache. Painting is the main focus of my artistic practice.
My paintings have always been inspired and fuelled by emotional events in my life. This has resulted in two dimensional interpretations and explorations of flowers, plants, and the natural world. I find it delicious and freeing to recreate the shapes, lines, and movements of the natural world. The physical work and problem solving of a composition become an outlet for me to work through my emotions. My method of painting used to involve covering the entire canvas with colour, and while it was still wet, I would paint the skeleton of imagery so that every layer would intertwine. Sometimes this process became a marathon of painting; I couldn't leave the canvas until satisfied. The connection between inspiration and end product are like my own little secrets.
In recent works I have become consumed by painting in light layers of oil paint watered down by mineral spirits and natural oils. This application feels more like a water colour application, but is more forgiving. These works are typically of the Canadian landscape.

Much like my 3D wall pieces, my sculptures are inspired by my career in construction. I currently am in the process of completing my Carpentry apprenticeship, with one more level to complete.
The purses are all made out of recycled construction materials that I use on a daily basis. and have some parody's of what carrying a purse can be like. These sculptures were completed during my thesis year at the University of Manitoba School of Art.
